Welcome to the Hunger Solution Center

In the Great Lakes Bay Region, where 4 in 10 families struggle (66,000 families) to afford basic necessities like food, healthcare, and childcare, the Hunger Solutions Center stands as a beacon of hope. Through the combined efforts of Hidden Harvest and the East Side Soup Kitchen, we have tirelessly worked to feed our neighbors in need.

From 2004 to 2024, we increased our impact:

From serving 50,000 meals to serving 189,451 meals
Supported by 3,879 volunteers donating 45,000 hours
Donating 820,000 pounds of food per year to donating 3,783,545 million pounds of food per year
East Side Soup Kitchen has gone from 150 meals a day to 800 meals a day
Hidden Harvest rescued and redistributed nearly $12.5 million in food to their 191 nonprofits in the Great Lakes Bay Region
Lifetime Achievement: 55 million pounds of food rescued, equating to 41 million meals served - saving the community 150 million in food expenses

However, we cannot meet the growing needs with our current facilities.

To address this, we have launched the 555 Fundraising Campaign. This campaign aims to raise $555,000 by asking each of the 555,000 people in our region to donate just $1. The funds will support an $8.8 million expansion project, doubling our facility's size and capabilities. This expansion will enable us to rescue more food, provide more meals, and offer essential services like workforce development to help lift families out of poverty.

The East Side Soup Kitchen’s provides meals and hope in the heart of Saginaw. We are honored to serve our community, treating all individuals with dignity and respect.

All are welcome at the East Side Soup Kitchen, regardless of perceived need, race and or religious beliefs.
