In 2005, Hidden Harvest and the East Side Soup Kitchen joined forces to create the Hunger Solution Center, a collaborative facility that serves the tri-county region. This center provides a centralized location for food rescue, meal preparation, and distribution, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively.
Hidden Harvest, founded in 1994, operates on the principle that good food should never go to waste. By rescuing fresh and prepared food from restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, and farms, Hidden Harvest ensures that surplus food reaches those who need it most.
Since 1980, the East Side Soup Kitchen has been a beacon of hope for the unemployed and homeless in Saginaw. Providing hot, nutritious meals Monday through Friday, the Soup Kitchen also offers after-school meal programs for children and a weekly medical clinic for those without health insurance.
